Last night, a group of us from Amido attended the Best Workplaces Awards in-person (for the first time in 3 years!) For the fourth year in a row, Amido has made the rankings as a Great Place to Work and we are thrilled to announce our ranking as 8th place out of 105 finalists in the Medium category!
Our result with Best Workplaces UK is determined by our people having their say through a Trust Index TM survey, giving rankings based on their experience with Amido on various topic areas including, but not limited to: Trust, Wellbeing, Leadership Effectiveness, Values, Innovation By All and Maximising Human Potential. In combination with a Culture AuditTM of six open-ended questions around our people practices and how they proudly play a part in our culture and people experience.
We’re proud to say that Amido’s survey results were our best yet, with highlights being our 92% Trust Index and 96% “This is a Great Place to Work” Statement. We strive to operate fairly and flexibly, with our people being at the heart of everything we do. We put our trust in them, and the priority for the successful operation of our company has and always will be being 'in it together’ as our values say, preferred ways of working, prioritising wellbeing, and ensuring everyone truly ‘enjoy doing the work of our lives’.
Amido means “friends that do”, we pride ourselves on our culture; from the support and care we all have for one another, to the empowerment we put into our people. We also operate with the awareness that there is always more we can be doing for our people, and our mission is to never stop looking for ways to improve.
We wanted to use this as an opportunity to share some of the results our people shared in our survey, across the indexes and summarising what we have been doing in these areas to keep curious and keep improving as a company.
Some of our survey highlights include:
(90% index) – we are proud at Amido to heavily advocate for our people’s physical and mental wellbeing. We encourage work-life balance, where 97% of our employees agreed with this survey statement. In combination with our achievement, we were ranked 16th in the first ever Best Workplaces for Wellbeing list, an achievement that we are incredibly proud of.
One of our highlights from the last year was coming together to raise awareness for Wellbeing Week in 2021, where we lined up 16 opt-in activities for our employees to take part in. These activities included a sunflower growing competition, connecting minutes exercise challenge, and yoga (to name a few!), to raise money for our chosen charity, Mind. We are looking forward to coming together once again to celebrate Wellbeing Week 2022 as a company!
“Amido runs fantastic wellbeing initiatives such as wellbeing week and the Sunflower competition. We also have a remote-first working approach, however Amido ensures we have a safe office we can go and work in if we wish.”
Our Leadership Team are involved in every aspect of the business, and our people-first approach is echoed from the top down. Our managers understand the importance of reflecting Amido’s values.
Our Leadership Team are present throughout and are always committed to showing care towards our people and how we operate daily. They take it in turns to host our weekly company All Hands giving company updates, host our monthly Lunch n’ Learns and morning coffee socials. Proudly at over 175 employees, our CEO holds Meet & Greets with every single new starter who joins us to talk through Amido’s mission & values and is really appreciated by our new recruits.
“The leadership team are always visible, whether in our all-hands calls or during our regular community meetups, it's never a feeling that some hidden room full of suits is deciding our future.”
Over the last year, we felt it was time to revisit and reshape our values. Following surveys, workshops and focus groups, our teams created new values that represent who we are, the work we enjoy doing and how we like to do it. Our re-branded Mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to intelligent technologies.
Ensuring that we live and breathe our values is important to all of us - “Independent thinkers, collaborative doers”, “Keep curious, keep improving”, “Enjoy doing the work of our lives”, and “In it together”. To have our employees agree that our values are incorporated into our culture, shows true significance.
“The team at Amido have worked hard to build a people-first culture, and our value of being in it together really rings true. People are generally approachable, supportive and smart, and the leadership team is approachable and put people before processes.”
At Amido, we are building a culture where being unique is valued and empowered. If everyone in our company were the same, we would never deliver the great work that we do, nor have our fantastic culture where everyone supports one another and brings new ideas to the business. We celebrate the diversity of our people, yet we also know that it is a continuous process, and there is always work to be done.
One of our promises to our people is that we will hold ourselves accountable and continue to celebrate every individual, no matter what their background. We publish our data to employees transparently and have committed to attracting talent with inclusive branding and hiring, to challenge unconscious bias and attract more diversity. We were delighted to see in our survey that 98% of our people agree that everyone at Amido is treated fairly! We will continue to review our people processes to create equality in our teams, and always be open when it comes to receiving feedback.
“Everyone has a voice here, and I genuinely feel valued and that I can have an impact with my thoughts and ideas. My manager actively asks me to review her work and to give my thoughts which I have never had in any other organisation I've worked at. The company also promotes the message that work should always come second to your personal / family life. They have also been wonderful with remote working and have adapted to these changes, nobody has been forced back into the office against their will and it is completely optional, meaning that they prioritise our favoured way of working over just doing it because the world says we can again.”
For another year, Amido are celebrating a fantastic result and ranking in the Best Workplaces Awards. We couldn’t be happier, and this achievement is all down to our people regularly giving us feedback, being open to new ideas and opportunities, as well as just generally being a wonderful bunch of people to work alongside daily. We are aware that we probably sound like a broken record by this point, but we will never get tired of thanking our people for the wonderful qualities they bring to Amido.
So, from us to our incredible people at Amido, thank you for playing the role that you do in Amido being the great place to work that it is, we celebrate this achievement with every one of you! 😊
